2013 I wanted to let you know I took the exam on February 11 and found out this past weekend that I passed. I had already passed the other 3 sections using the NIU 'On-the-Go' Correspondence program, but I was struggling to pass Regulation so I decided to go to your 'Live' class hoping I would be able to retain the information better. I had been trying to avoid the 'Live' class because I have a 2 year old son and a six month old daughter and I didn't want to take away from my time with them, but my credit for passing the FAR exam was going to expire in April. I decided to make the sacrifice and sign up for the 'Live' class review. I knew going into the exam process that tax would be my weakest area, but thanks to you and the rest of the instructors I improved from a 65 to an 84 and I'm officially done with the CPA exam. 2013 I just found out on Friday that I passed REG (my last section)!! It was a long journey that started last fall but it was well worth it. I took FAR 'Live' at Hoffman Estates then did AUD, BEC, and REG via correspondance. NIU has a tremendous program and I know that I couldn't have done this without you and the NIU staff. I still can't believe that I was able to pass all four sections on the first try - FAR 79, AUD 95, BEC 89, and REG 91. What a great feeling it is to have accomplished this. I got married and bought a house in there too and was still able to pass all of them with the help of the great professors. 2012 Dear NIU CPA Review Team, Thanks to you I passed all four sections of the CPA exam on my first attempt! It took me six months to pass the exam, but it's been a much longer journey. I started in 2009 but due to a hectic work schedule and lack of confidence I never sat for the exam. I contacted the office several times for course materials, mp3s, and Blackboard access. They always responded promptly and kindly.
Having taken both the live course and correspondence, I believe I have a unique perspective on this program. The live course is great and the instructors are very engaging. The environment is conducive to learning and the instructors write notes on the slides and show you how to work problems.
When I switched to correspondence I was concerned I would miss out on information drawn on the slides that I could not see. However, that was not the case because the instructors clearly speak about what they are writing. In fact, I would say the correspondence helped me highlight the areas of the materials I thought were important or needed to understand more clearly. I was also able to pause and replay the mp3s to reread sections and listen again to topics the instructors were speaking about if I did not understand them on the first play. I also really enjoyed how topics were broken down into different books making the material seem more manageable.
Furthermore, the course emphasized understanding the concepts and then applying them to questions. This worked really well for me as I would listen and follow along with the lecture, read the material and answer the questions in the book, then reread the areas I struggled on the MCQs, take the online quizzes, then reread the books again, and finally take the online quizzes one last time to make sure I knew the material.
I know I couldn't have passed this exam on the first attempt without this review program. I recommend it to anyone looking for a CPA review program and will continue to do so. Thank you once again for your wonderful program. I will never forget it. Regards, Michael M.
2012 I had almost given up on becoming a CPA after I used another review program and failed (70 and a 63!) two different sections of the exam. I was discouraged and put my review books away for almost a year until a friend recommended the NIU program. 2012 I just wanted to give you a little update on my progress. Not only did I survive my first tax season at work, I was able to complete BEC via Correspondance during March & April. I found out a few weeks ago that I passed! 89! The NIU CPA Review program continues to prove highly effective. Aside from studying and work, I got married this last weekend to my girlfriend of 6 years! So I am gladly celebrating that and passing my third section. One more to go! REG! 2012 I passed! I logged onto the IL Board of Examiners system this morning and learned that I passed REG, the final section I needed to become a CPA!! I have been an NIU CPA Review Course correspondence student since September 2010. I had previously taken the EXAM 9 years ago, but let it go after my wife and I started raising a family. 2012 To the NIU CPA Review Team, I found out yesterday I passed the final test to become a CPA. I wanted to thank each of you for your part in helping me acheive my dream of becoming a CPA. My undergraduate degrees were in Finance and Econonmics, and as fate would have it, after a job change I ended up doing accounting work. I enjoyed the work, but it was evident to me that if I wanted to progress in my career, I would need to pass the CPA exam. 2012 I wanted to let you know that I experienced the video component within my Regulation class this past January and thought it was great! With the handout materials, audio recordings, and now with video, it was a great way to study! Kim W. 2012 The program assisted me in navigating the entire CPA process from transcript evaluation through credentialing. It covered potential pitfalls that could have prevented my success. It offered answers to questions I would not have otherwise thought to ask. The program's instructors emphasized foundational and novel topics based on former candidate's feedback and current AICPA specified content. They had the judgment to identify the appropriate depth of topic coverage, without being superficial. They shared their tips and tricks including mnemonics and other memory aids useful for fact retention and recall. They were quick to respond to my questions, thorough in their reply, and patient.
The instructors relentlessly encouraged, motivated, and shared in my success. Their energy and enthusiasm inspired me to continue, even when I was tired and wanting to give up. The live review proved more valuable than self-study. I met similarly motivated students and professionals that freely shared their experiences and knowledge. I keep in contact with these friends today.
I would highly recommend the NIU CPA review program for goal-oriented and resource-constrained aspiring CPAs. It is efficient and effective.

I received my final results the other day that I passed the final section of the CPA exam. I am extremely happy. I thank you for the support, knowledge and continuous encouragement throughout the process. It took me almost the entire 18 month time period. I would definitely advise and encourage any candidates to practice simulations and questions. The REG textbooks from the class provide a good basis for the exam. However, I truly believe answering questions and practicing allowed me to pass the exam that I had to re-take. It at least builds the confidence needed when going into the exam. I also must admit that I took all of the review courses while working full time (45+ hours a week), planning a wedding and changing jobs. People need to know that by using NIU review courses, a person can pass the exam and work more than full time at the same time. Many people just believe that it is impossible to do both. I would like to thank every one of you for your help during my recent exam. I recently took the Naperville class for BEC that ended in early May. I sat for the BEC section late May. I just found out my results today, and I received a 79! I was a student in your Audit review last January in Hoffman Estates. I wanted to let you know that I PASSED the Audit section; I got an 85. I received my results today and I am so relieved and excited. I wanted to say THANK YOU; your class was EXCELLENT and helped me tremendously! Unfortunately I did not pass the BEC section of the exam, I received a 73(oh so close). I take some comfort with the BEC section due to the fact that it was my fault; I started a new job the month before I sat for the test and did not prepare the way I should have. I am happy to report that I passed the FAR exam with a score of 77. I am on such a high right now. Although I was experiencing difficulties with my exam overlapping I was able to get through it all with your help. 2012 I just wanted to let you know that I am done! Regulation was my final exam and I got my score (84) yesterday. I just wanted to thank your staff for helping me pass all 4 sections on my first try with really good scores. My first review class was Audit(92) in Naperville last summer, then I took FAR(89) in Hoffman Estates last fall. I then did BEC(88) via correspondence in Nov/Dec, and I finished with REG(84) in DeKalb in January. It's official!!! I'm a CPA!!! I just found out I passed FAR with an 87!! I couldn't be happier. I owe everything to your program. I took all four sections via correspondence and I couldn't speak more highly of the program. The course gives you guidance and discipline, two things you MUST HAVE in order to pass this exam, while providing the luxury of going at your own pace. You can listen to the lectures multiple times, especially the areas you find difficult or confusing. I graduated from the University of Illinois in December 2004 and waited almost 6 years before trying to obtain my CPA. I purchased all 4 correspondence sections in November 2010 and took my last exam section on November 23, 2011. It can happen for anyone and you will succeed! I'm living proof!
